Mrs D’Mello who had been with her husband on holiday to celebrate her 60th birthday, visited an enclosure where people are encouraged to enter and pet the captive cheetahs. She and her husband did so being told it was safe. The couple snapped a few photo’s petting the cheetah‘s then turned to leave when a cheetah pulled the woman, Mrs D’Mello down to the ground and began biting and slashing at her body.
Mrs D’Mello screamed and then began playing dead while another cheetah joined the first and began attacking. The woman terrified pretended to be dead waited for help. The guides finally managed to pull away the cheetah’s and Mrs D’Mello was able to escape and then rushed to the hospital for stitches.
Mrs D’Mello was almost blind from where one on the cheetah’s had slashed near her right eye.
“Come on!”
Their animals. They are wild and can kill people and they are allowing people, kids even, to enter this place with a guide who had nothing to defend the people or their self with just in case. It was said to be safe. Going into a wild animal’s cage, is not safe. Their unpredictable animals, “period.”

This is unfortunate and should not have happened and there should be a law against it, no matter how safe they believe it to be, accidents happen and raising the risks by allowing people to pet wild, unpredictable animals should not happen. Ever.
Mrs D’Mello husband was the one to capture the photo’s. Some wonder why, I think he did it for proof that it happened in case any tried to cover it up after. Though you think he would be freaking out. I know I wouldn’t be snapping photo’s, I’d be shouting at the guards to help and throwing rocks at it or something to distract it so she could get away. “Something.”
Poor woman.
Shame on that game reserve that allowed this to happen.
“Tell me” What would you have done? and do you think this kind of petting of wild animals should be banned or allowed?
