Singularity Delemas

First off,  Singularity is the hypothetical future creation of super intelligent machines. A human could potentially scan his consciousness into a computer and live eternally in virtual reality, or as a sentient robot.

Why on earth would you want to be a computer? I mean I myself think and have even imagined the possibilities of creating things in my mind and downloading it as I see it to a computer. Perfection would finally be possible. Hard work would come easy. The benifits would be endless, but to me it is wrong to play God that way and that is where Science and Spirituality don’t agree.

I do not think it’s even possible, because of the fact that I believe in souls and you may be able to take things from your mind to make a similar virtual you, but it really would not be you in any sense because you would be a computer.

Life as we know it would not exist for the most part and who decides who becomes a robot and who doesn’t. Does that mean that the poor and people with no importance to the scientists and government, the ones who control will phase us little people out by surrounding us with intellegent computers who could be programmed to wipe us out. We could be tracked. our thoughts would know longer be safe, there would be no more privacy.

Does anyone realize the many negatives to even attempt such a thing? how long could our bodies even withstand such undergoing’s without having to become all machine? Would we even be us anymore?

I don’t think we would because I think it’s basically selling our souls to the devil and we would be simply a machine, non-relatable, non-compassionate and all machine. We could very much live in a controlled world where someone pulls all the strings and don’t we already suffer from that? Why feed into the cake decorated before us, only to bite into more than we can swallow and find out it tastes bitter instead of sweet?

This makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

What do you think?

Do you want to be a machine?
